About Montessori Institute of Atlanta

Association Montessori Internationale

The Montessori Institute of Atlanta has offered teacher-training courses since 1968.  Beginning by offering Primary (ages 2½–6+) courses, MIA has also offered a course for Assistants to Infancy (birth–3 years), and is now offering courses for those who wish to teach at the Elementary (ages 6–12) level.

Since its inception, all of MIA's courses have been accredited by the Association Montessori Internationale (AMI), headquartered in Amsterdam, Netherlands.  Founded in 1929 by Dr. Maria Montessori and her son and collaborator, Mario Montessori, AMI is the world-recognized authority in Montessori education.  Montessori Institute of Atlanta is committed  to the maintenance of AMI traditions and high standards of teacher training.

Montessori Institute of Atlanta is proud to be part of the largest Montessori community in North America, with schools and teachers in private and public sectors, serving children and their families across the socio-economic spectrum.  AMI schools and teachers have graciously hosted our students in their classrooms for required Observations and Practice Teaching components of training.  Local teachers, administrators, and schools have generously contributed to our AMI training center providing personal, financial, and professional support, for which we and our students are extremely grateful.
